Osprey's 2022 round-up.
We take a look back on 2022 and everything that was achieved across the Osprey network.
Osprey Charging continues from strength to strength.
2022 was Osprey's biggest year to date, achieving a series of key milestones as we continued to provide accessible, high-power EV charging in convenient locations across the UK.
We ended the year with over 400 chargepoints in the ground, including four new load-balancing charging hubs at Banbury, Brackley (take a tour here!), Crewe, and Ipswich, with a further two coming very soon in Essex, near the M25 J29, and Devon.
2022 also saw Osprey announce a series of new collaborations. We were selected by British Garden Centres, the UK’s largest family-owned garden centre group, to provide rapid EV charging at an initial 12 stores nationwide. We announced a partnership for 15 new rapid charging stations with North Devon Council. The agreement has delivered six already and more than doubles the existing rapid charging provisions in the area benefitting residents, businesses, and the six million tourists who visit the district each year. We also became the first charging partner of the British Gas fleet.
Our commitment to accessible and safe charging was recognised in becoming the first charging network to subscribe to ChargeSafe, a public charging endorsement body that independently inspects and rates EV charging locations. At the launch of our new charging hub at Paisley Pear in Brackley, the UK's first accessibly designed charging hub was awarded the highest accessibility score ChargeSafe had seen so far.
We celebrated being a network that is open to all by hosting artwork on our EV chargers raising awareness of important causes and organisations throughout the year. We displayed wraps supporting Pride in July, Black History Month in October, and Disability History Month in November and December.
In November we were very proud to have won the Infrastructure Award at the Automotive Global Awards for our significant contribution to the UK's public charging network. We were also runner up in the Service Excellence Award, recognising our easy-to-use charge experience and market-leading customer care. The awards came one week after Osprey were once again awarded the EV Driver Recommended Network badge in the annual Zap-Map chargepoint network rankings.
2023 promises to be an outstanding year with the launch of our flagship hub in Devon and plans to more than double the size of the network to over 1000 chargers.
