Osprey Go brings ultimate EV charging convenience
Osprey becomes the largest UK charging network to offer Autocharge with launch of Osprey Go
Automatic authentication and dynamic pricing mark Osprey's biggest customer experience upgrade yet, powered by proprietary software platform Osprey Iris
PRESS RELEASE, Monday 7 September 2026
Osprey Charging Network, one of the UK's leading rapid and ultra-rapid public charging networks, today announces the launch of Osprey Go, making Osprey the largest charging network in the UK to offer Autocharge technology.
Osprey Go allows drivers to plug in and walk away, with charging starting automatically and the best available price for that location and time applied without the need to tap a card or open the app. Set up once through the Osprey app, the feature removes significant points of friction from the public charging process.
Osprey Go has been developed in-house via Osprey Iris, the company's proprietary software platform. Osprey's growing in-house team of developers and product specialists trialled the feature extensively with a beta testing group of real drivers ahead of its wider rollout to all app users.
The launch is underpinned by dynamic pricing, which Osprey is extending across its network this month as part of Osprey Go. Customers who charge outside peak periods benefit from lower rates for the same ultra-rapid charging experience, a particular advantage for the growing number of EV drivers without off-street parking or home charging access, who rely on the public network for the majority of their charging needs.
“Osprey Go is a significant improvement to the EV customer experience”, said Olly Cooper, CTO of Osprey. “I’m proud that the team have developed and delivered this capability in-house – both the automatic start-charge and the off-peak pricing. We took Autocharge and we made it Osprey: building a simple set-up flow, testing it thoroughly, and offering the functionality to the widest range of drivers. This is the innovation and openness that has always been core to Osprey, and why we brought software in house in the first place with Osprey Iris.”
Key features of Osprey Go include:
1. No fuss: Customers simply plug in and walk away. Once set up, there's no need to tap a card or open the app to authenticate – charging starts automatically.
2. Best price: Customers benefit from dynamic pricing and always get the best Osprey price available at that specific location and that time, applied automatically.
3. In control: Customers can access receipts, see live pricing and availability across Osprey's nationwide network, and are notified of offers and discounts relevant to them and where they charge.
Osprey selected Autocharge as the technology underpinning Go to keep the experience open and accessible to the broadest possible range of drivers and vehicles, consistent with the network's approach to date. The company has confirmed it is also exploring Plug & Charge capability for future release, which would add a further layer of interoperable, vehicle-based authentication for compatible vehicles.
Beyond the immediate convenience benefits, Osprey views dynamic pricing as a long-term strategy. By reflecting real-time variation in energy costs, the model allows Osprey to pass through savings to customers while encouraging demand to shift away from peak grid periods, a capability expected to become increasingly important as EV charging demand scales across the UK.
Osprey Go is available now to all Osprey app users.
