A Decade of Growth in the UK's EV Charging Sector
Is it growth you’re looking for? Look no further than the UK’s EV charging sector, set to unleash a decade of serious growth.
Yesterday, we joined two Ministers and fellow ChargeUK members to launch our sector’s first Economic Impact Report: Powering a decade of growth.
£15.5bn in direct cumulative GVA contributed to the economy
71,500 direct jobs created, with a further 334,000 enabled across the wider EV sector
9.75 million chargers rolled out across home, workplace and public networks
📈 Public charging growing from 18% to a 31% share of EV charging energy demand (13TWh)
That’s a compound annual growth rate of 37%.
We’re already seeing the signs:
- Three public charge point operators in the top 25 of the The Sunday Times 100 Tech 2026 list, with Osprey placing 10th at 158.22% growth.
- Over £100m in equity and £110m in debt raised for Osprey, enabling 100s of large high-power hubs to be built across Great Britain.
The ZEV mandate is working. It underwrites investment, infrastructure deployment and job opportunities. Now is the time to double-down, not slow down.
